Kiteboarding
At The Outer Banks

If you are looking for the perfect place for kiteboarding, you will have to bring your board and kite to the Outer Banks.

kiteboarding outer banks The shallow waters on the sound side of the Outer Banks is one of the most popular places for kiteboarders to ride their boards.

In the recent years as the sport has continued to grow in popularity, more and more people have been bringing their boards to the Outer Banks and filling their kite with the constant winds and getting some really great speed and awesome height off the water.

Some of the most popular places for kiteboarding is the sound side of Hatteras Island between Rodanthe and Buxton.

You will find places available for parking along the sound side with easy access to the water.

If you are looking for more of a challenge then you will probably want to ride on the ocean surf and take advantage of the public access areas on the ocean side of the highway. The walk with your gear isn't bad.

If you have four wheel drive then life gets even better by using the beach access ramps and driving right to the water’s edge.

Learning To Kiteboard

If you have never tried to use a kiteboard before, there are some good schools that offer lessons for you to learn the basics including how to choose your equipment.

With some good instruction and practice you will soon know first hand why this sport has become one of the favorite water sports while at the Outer Banks.

Fun For Spectators

If you aren't interested in riding one of these boards, you will enjoy sitting on the beach and watching.

I find it a lot of fun watching the acrobatic stunts some of the riders can do with their board.

It's amazing what some of the in-air-stunts kiteboarders can perform.

If you haven't had an interest in this sport, you may change your mind after witnessing first hand how much fun you could be having on the water with a board and a giant kite attached to you.
