Outer Banks attractions are a great way to explore the character of the barrier islands and they help make the communities and beaches such a great vacation destination.

As you are exploring the communities and islands, you will soon find a rich history going back to the very beginnings of this country that have helped shape the Outer Banks.

Great Historic Sites you will want to see

If you like museums you will want to visit the three listed below.

  • North Carolina Maritime Museum on Roanoke Island
  • Frisco Native American Museum and Natural History Center
  • The Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum

Some of the things that I enjoy at the Outer Banks are the federal and state parks that are available for everyone's enjoyment.

You will find some of the most beautiful beaches, sand dunes and waterways that will never to be turned into housing developments. If you are like me and are the happiest when you are outdoors enjoying nature, then I know you will love the quite and undisturbed beaches here waiting for you to enjoy.

Of course what would a family vacation to the beach be without having an opportunity to see some of the many species of marine life found right here at the Outer Banks.

The North Carolina Aquarium on Roanoke Island is a popular Outer Banks attraction for many vacationing families. Our family has found the Aquarium a lot of fun with interactive exhibits such as the touching tanks and watching a shark in the viewing window of the 285,000 gallon tank.

With your Outer Banks sightseeing, I'm confident that you won't be disappointed in the many attractions available.
