Wright Brothers
Memorial and Museum

The Wright Brothers Memorial is a monument to the achievement of Wilbur Wright and Orville Wright being the first in flight.

This monument and museum is one of the popular attractions for many coming to the Outer Banks.

The Memorial stands on the actual hill the infamous first powered flight took off from.

On your visit you will be able to walk up the hill and get a feeling of what it must have felt like for the Wright Brothers the day when they made history.

You can almost picture the excitement of that day, when flying was finally proven to be possible after so many attempts.

After visiting the Memorial you will have a short walk down the hill to the museum.

The museum is a great tribute to the history that took us down the road of taking to flight.

You will journey through time as you view the many pictures of achievements and failures of flying.

This one achievement has probably affected life as we know it today more than any other achievement. Kill Devil Hills on the Outer Banks is where it all took place.

A replica of the plane that the Wright Brothers flew that day is on display inside the museum.

When you see the plane they flew, you can appreciate the nerve they had when they took off down the hill hoping to finally achieve what many had failed to do.

I hope you enjoy the Wright Brothers Monument and Museum as much as I and many others have.
